Bobby and Jimmy

All things considered I think you guys turned out okay

Considering how I was raised

Considering it was just me for a bit

On a single salary

Working for the state

Child support division

Never asked for child support.

Put you both through college.

I think you both turned out okay

Remember California, the beach trips to Wildwood and Lavalette

The Yankees games, Rangers games, Scrabble games, the pool table, the pinball machine

This is all so cool.

You guys turned out okay.

I hope you know I did the best I could.

Remember quitting smoking, sneaking cigarettes, tanning in the sun, swinging the bat, hobbling to first, remember not getting old.

You’re both getting older, but you turned out okay?

Considering who my father was,

Beat me for using my left hand,

I should have been an ax murderer.

I’m sorry I wasn’t perfect

But you’re both still okay?

Remember Jersey City, Poplar Street, longing for California, Saint Peter’s College, Nichols College, St Michaels, Remember the nuns beat me, remember who my father was.

I was premature

I was waiting for the aliens to come

I found things to make me happy

Remember the records, the horror memorabilia, when the Rangers won the Stanley cup.

All these things we’ve been considering

But are you guys doing okay?
